Curled Toes

Lucy may have come into this world almost 2 full pounds smaller than her older sister, but for her size, she has equally long fingers and toes. Here's the proof caught on camera. Seriously! Look at those curled toes!!
And those scrawny little legs! Lucy reminds me a little of Jackson when he was first born... we'll see if/ how quickly she fattens up like her older siblings.

Bringing Lucy Home

One of the nurses took this picture (about 2:30am). We thought it was so funny how she managed to get her fingers perfectly laced.

Sweet, TINY little girl!
Lucy has long fingers, feet & toes like her Daddy (and sister)

Lucy checked out perfectly healthy, which is a huge blessing considering we brought her here pretty early. She passed all of her tests for hearing, jaundice, etc. Some of the nurses tried to convince us to stay another day, but we (mostly Mommy) were ready to come home. Lucy got to spend 27 hours at the hospital and that was plenty for us!
(I uploaded this picture twice and can't figure out why it keeps uploading like this... it's straight on my computer... anyway, I just love how huge the pacifier looks when they're so little.)

We wanted to get a picture with all 5 of us... Jackson wanted to be the one to hold Baby Lucy.

Lucy's baby announcement/info is on the hospital's website. Kind of fun to see the little facts about the day she was born!

Welcome Baby Lucy!

Lucy Amaryllis Ussery
born: February 23, 2010 @ 10:34am
7lb 4.4oz ~ 20.5 inches long

Baby Lucy is so small and sweet. She is a pro sleeper. All she does is sleep and eat in between. Lucy only wakes up once in the middle of the night to eat. (Although it scares me a little to have such a small baby, it was a much more pleasant experience to deliver Lucy than it was to deliver Kate @ 9lb 2oz.) She sure looks a lot like Parker did when he was a baby--more so than either of the other kids. It will be so much fun to watch her change over the next few weeks and see her little personality come out.

Jackson and Kate think she's "so cute" and fun and are excited to have us both at home.
Jackson has been trying so hard to be a big helper. He jumps at the chance to help feed her or throw a diaper away for us.

Kate loves her too, but is SO busy that she just kind of comes and goes and greets Lucy along the way. She especially loves to "beep" Lucy's nose.

WoW! Three kids. So far, the transition has been okay. I'm sure it will be a little trickier going grocery shopping by myself, but besides that, we're figuring out a routine pretty quickly. (It helps that Baby Lucy just sleeps and sleeps and sleeps, too!)
Here's Kate "beeping" Baby Lucy's nose.

Grandma Ussery graciously came down to be with Jackson and Kate while I was busy at the hospital with Parker and my Mom. It was SO nice to have the help of BOTH Grandmas. The kids were very sad today when the last Grandma had to go back home and keep asking when they'll be back.

Last night with 2 kids

It's a GO!

Well, the amnio wasn't that bad... still wouldn't opt to have it in the future unless there was good reason, but not bad. Pretty quick and almost painless. We got the results back and Baby Lucy's little lungs are mature so we are set for induction. Now I just need to go buy some formula... hello! The girl is going to have to eat! I just remembered to buy diapers about a week ago. What happens to a person that makes them so absent minded after you have a couple of kids? I guess that question sort of answers itself.

Parker gave the kids and I blessings this morning, so I feel pretty comforted. I am so grateful that he is worthy and able to do that! Hopefully in 24 hours our family will be 5 and everything will go smoothly for all involved.

Baby Lucy is coming!!

Well, tomorrow morning (Monday) I go in for an amnio (which I've never had) to confirm that Baby Lucy's lungs are sufficiently developed. Per the ultrasound this past Friday, she is already weighing around 7lbs and looks very developed, plus my belly is apparently measuring about 3 weeks bigger than is expected at 37 weeks... so assuming the results come back positively (developed lungs) I will be admitted late Monday evening (10pm) and I imagine Baby Lucy will arrive sometime early Tuesday morning. Hopefully, we'll be organized enough to have some pictures up shortly after. In the meantime, we'll be busy, busy packing hospital bags and welcoming this new little one into the world and into our family. Wish us luck!

(pictures to come...)

Visiting the cows...

Kate & Jackson
Who invented rainboots? Some brilliant mother for sure! They can put them on and take them off themselves, they are taller than regular shoes and boots & they can be hosed or wiped off easily when they get dirty... plus, they're waterproof!

Here's the 4-wheeler Jackson proudly calls his... luckily he's okay sharing it with his sister/best friend
Doesn't Kate just look like a natural?
However, this is probably more realistic
The sad thing is, we had a dead battery, so Parker just pushed them for a while. They had a blast! (I guess there are some perks to keeping your kids away from Disneyland and keeping life simple... and they're too young to know any different!)
Grandpa & Jackson trying to call in the cows
These ones are new, so they aren't really used to people yet... this was about as close as they got. Eventually, they'll be able to pet them (sad, since they're raised to slaughter... but the meat is yummy!)

Monster Jam!!

Parker took Jackson to the monster truck show in Portland (and Grandpa & Uncle Garrett came too). He is still talking about it!
They had these little binoculars, but Jackson couldn't quite ever get the hang of them besides using them for a toy.
Sweet monster trucks!
