cont... more fun in the sun (our backyard)

Kate was eating the grass... gross. I drew the line when I saw a big dandelion flower-head in her mouth. YUCKY!!

Yay for the "big poop prize"!!! Way to go Jackson! Only 2 accidents in 2 days... not bad!
Just hanging out after a picnic dinner (we tried a burger drive-in place in town... pretty good!)
Of course, Jackson only wanted the chocolate milkshake and Kate polished off her milk and cheerios.
Yep, it's gone!
What a handsome little boy!

Silly face; cute pic

Day 5: Still working, but loving being together

Well, we haven't perfected potty training, but we are getting better each day. It will be interesting for me to see how Kate does (in the future) with this method and to compare gender differences and personalities. Jackson is still VERY enthusiastic about the potty chair, wearing "big boy underwear" and for the treats he earns when he does go to the potty chair. Today, he pooped for the first time in the potty chair! This was HUGE!! A huge step, I mean. Anyway, he was ecstatic and finally got his "big poop prize"... a Travel-n-Aquadoodle. So much fun!

Day 4: Playing together is fun to do, fun to do, ta do, ta do

Being silly together. Jackson & Kate are the best of friends. She has so much fun chasing after him... she's getting pretty fast, doing her speedy gorilla "crawl" (up on all fours, bum in the air).
Love the outfit! Jackson is sporting his Lightning McQueen underwear, green soccer shirt, with the ever-popular black rain/all-terrain rubber boots.

Day 3: Jackson loves the bathy

Today was MUCH better than yesterday! I think he's really understanding and beginning to recognize that all-familiar urge BEFORE it starts to trickle out. Hurray! We still have some work ahead of us, but I think this method is valid. It just takes a lot of dedication and time set aside SPECIFICALLY for potty training, without interruption. In other words, you have to be home for the first 3-4 days, depending on your child. Totally worth it though... that's $50 a month less on diapers! Sweet!!

Jackson is such a silly boy!
Looking SO grown up, don't you think? We are having so much fun with him and completely enjoying this stage of growing up a little, but part of me just wants him to stay little forever.

Day 2: Potty Training

Just hanging out, playing with toys, and RUNNING to the potty chair a couple of times each hour. Kate has been such a good girl while her brother figures out this potty training thing!

I just can't get enough of these baby blues!

Still going well... however, I was ready to throw in the towel this afternoon... twice, actually. I think this is a lot harder for me than it is for him. Accidents haven't been so bad, it's just the timing and I'm tired of cleaning... ALL DAY! I'm ready for Parker to be home so that I can focus 100% on Jackson and not feel like I'm neglecting Kate, though she seems to be just fine.

Kate survives "Potty Training: Day 1"

This is how Kate spends most of her days lately... standing. She has been pulling herself up onto EVERYTHING; a new skill that she perfected while we were at Grandma's house.

Yum... eating Apple Jacks off of the kitchen floor... I'm SUCH a good Mom! (At least the floor has been vacuumed and they are sharing with each other.)

Parker is home, we've eaten dinner and now I have a minute to update. Jackson woke up completely dry from his nap and has consistently gone on the potty chair, with only 2 exceptions. Sure there is that occasional trickle that lets us know that it's time to run to the bathroom, but overall, he TOTALLY understands the idea of running to the bathroom when he feels the urge to go. AWESOME first day! Can't wait for the end of Day 3, when he does it all on his own!!

Cinco de Mayo... still potty training...

It's going so well. Always dry waking up from naps and in the morning. Still a little hit-and-miss throughout the day, but he IS a boy and not even 2-1/2 yet, so I think we're doing pretty well!

P-O-T-T-Y training... yep, that's what we're doing for the next 72 hours!

Jackson is going to be potty trained here in 3 days and I can hardly wait. He's taking a nap right now (as is Kate), so I have about 2-3 hours to do some laundry, get dinner organized for tonight and blog about our adventure so far. (He turned 2 years old on December 31st, 2008 and we're ready to be back to changing just one child's diaper... so he's on to big boy underwear!)
I have other pictures to post from our trip to Seattle and cute "Tate" as Jackson calls her, but I want to make sure to get a few up of "potty training adventures" before I get interrupted.
We have gone through 14 pair of underwear so far and counting (notice the different underwear in each picture)... however, he has gone in his potty chair 3 times so far this morning... not bad! He's really starting to get the hang of knowing when he's about to go and calling for me.
Now, we just need to work on getting him to start moving toward the bathroom on his own. We will see how he does when he wakes up from his nap.
So many exciting things happening around our house right now!
